New Service to Guard Against Food Tampering Launches in Fairfield County

A new, safe way that guarantees food delivered by local restaurants has not been tampered with has launched in Fairfield County with the goal of developing the service into a national enterprise.

“The Food Enforcer”  will ensure that food delivered by participating restaurants is unopened and untouched by personnel who transport it. The safety packaging product comes in the wake of videos illustrating delivery personnel sampling food before distributing it to clients. Nearly 40 percent of Americans are reluctant to use delivery services because of suspected food tampering.

“We’ve been seeking a solution for this issue for a while, and we’re happy that we’re able to introduce it here in Fairfield County,’’ said Jeff Miller, a Trumbull resident who is working with several partners to market the safety product. “We developed Food Enforcer to combat the threat of food tampering. Our patent-pending system of tamper-evident labels is the easiest way to ensure that the food people order is delivered precisely as ordered and prepared by the restaurant.”

Miller envisions the product as benefitting restaurants that deliver frequently, such as pizza and Chinese food establishments. Also, with the uptick in the home delivery services, he believes more restaurants and businesses will be interested in the service. Restaurants in Monroe and Trumbull have already expressed interest in The Food Enforcer and are using it in their deliveries.

Customers are not charged for the service. Miller is working to secure advertisers to deliver their message on the Food Enforcer packaging. “The advertiser’s marketing message will be seen by every consumer that receives food delivery,’’ Miller said. “In order for the customer to access their food, they will be required to touch and look at the advertiser’s information.” Miller said advertisers will have exclusive rights to selected restaurants, and the marketing will be more focused and less expensive than comparable platforms.

The tamper-proof label will help customers feel secure that the food delivered to their home or business has not been altered. “All food being delivered will be sealed from the time it leaves the restaurant until the time it arrives at the customer,’’ Miller said. “There will be an increase in customer satisfaction knowing that the food is not being tampered with during delivery.”
