The Downtown Milford Farmers’ Market Opens June 15

Farmers' Market Gears Up for Big Season

The Downtown Milford Farmers’ Market is setting itself up for its biggest season yet, starting with Opening Day, Saturday, June 15th. Now in its 14th year, the Market has continued to grow and the 2019 line up includes a new location, new and favorite returning vendors, more specialty and kids’ days, and a growing roster of entertainment.

This year, the Market is moving to the lot next to Wasson Field — which goes hand in hand with summer sporting events taking place there. Greg Ferro, who joined as market master last year, said he couldn’t wait to bring the community together in this new location.

“All of the farmers, vendors, and musicians that make our market special will be back,” Ferro said.  “There will be new twists, too, like, Bring Your Dog to Market Day.”

Other specialty days include kids’ with a variety of themes, including Kid’s Market, Cute Critters, Going Green, and Let’s Move It!, each of which involves activities, crafts, and special events.

This year brings new vendors looking for a new home as well. With the closing of a popular market in Black Rock, many artisans, farms, and vendors have sought out the Downtown Milford Farmers’ Market as their new home. “We’re growing a beautiful season for everyone to be part of,” Ferro said.

The mission of the market is to create a place where local ideas can blossom — it’s both a gathering place for the community and a low-risk environment for farmers, entrepreneurs, artists, and educators to share their talents and wares, Ferro said.

The Downtown Milford Farmers’ Market runs Saturdays, 9 am - 1 pm, June 15 - October 12, and is located at Wasson Field, West Main Street, Milford, CT.  For more information about specialty days, entertainment, and the market itself, please visit www.downtownmilfordfarmersmarket.com.
