COVID - 19 Update
We are working with our local and state partners to stay updated on the COVID-19 situation in relation to business. What we do know is the tourism and hospitality industries, which support thousands of workers and serve and accommodate visitors annually depend on travelers are already experiencing fewer reservations and numerous visitor cancellations, reducing revenue and income for those businesses.
Our manufacturing industries, which support local residents are unable to get needed parts from overseas suppliers, making it difficult to keep some manufacturing lines running and meet the needs of their wholesale and retail clients.
The CDC has issued a guide for employers to respond to the virus. Recommendations include:
- Actively encouraging sick employees to stay home;
- Flexible policies that permit employees to stay home to care for a sick family member;
- Respiratory etiquette;
- Hand hygiene
At this time the State of Connecticut has not declared a disaster.
If it does, businesses impacted by COVID-19 may be eligible to apply for SBA emergency loans.
