City of Milford COVID - 19 Update for Businesses

COVID - 19 Update

We are working with our local and state partners to stay updated on the COVID-19 situation in relation to business. What we do know is the tourism and hospitality industries, which support thousands of workers and serve and accommodate visitors annually depend on travelers are already experiencing fewer reservations and numerous visitor cancellations, reducing revenue and income for those businesses.

Our manufacturing industries, which support local residents are unable to get needed parts from overseas suppliers, making it difficult to keep some manufacturing lines running and meet the needs of their wholesale and retail clients.

The CDC has issued a guide for employers to respond to the virus. Recommendations include:

  • Actively encouraging sick employees to stay home;
  • Flexible policies that permit employees to stay home to care for a sick family member;
  • Respiratory etiquette;
  • Hand hygiene

At this time the State of Connecticut has not declared a disaster.

If it does, businesses impacted by COVID-19 may be eligible to apply for SBA emergency loans.

In addition, H.R. 6040 has been introduced to reduce the interest rate to zero on such loans.

If you would like, reach out to Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro to express your SUPPORT for House of Representatives bill 6040 (H.R.6040), titled: “Small Business Relief from Communicable Disease Induced Economic Hardship Act of 2020”, which would amend the Small Business Act (1) to ensure that small businesses affected by the onset of communicable diseases, such as COVID-19 (“Coronavirus”), you can contact Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro.

Please reach out with any additional questions and concerns.

Stay safe, healthy and wash your hands!
