Brian Smith to Chair 2018 United Way of Milford Campaign

The United Way of Milford is pleased to announce radio host Brian Smith as the 2018 Campaign Chair and Jonathan Law and Foran students Cora Sula & Trevanna Kandrach as Campaign Co-Chairs. The 2018 Campaign Kickoff will be held at Subway World Headquarters at a soon to be determined date.

Smith is the host of WQUN’s The Brian Smith Afternoon Show and former co-host of The Smith and Barber Morning Show. A graduate of Jonathan Law High School, Smith has deep roots and direct ties to the Milford Community dating back to the City’s earliest founders.

Co-Chair Cora Sula will be a senior at Jonathan Law High School this year and is a member of the National Honor Society. Model U.N. Treasurer, Science Club Secretary, member of the Key Club, Forever Friends and is in the top 6 in her class. Trevanna Kandrach will be a junior at Foran High School this year and is a member of the Natural Helpers, Interact Club, Key Club, Bracelets for a Cause, Gender Sexuality Alliance, CT Voice and is on the honor roll.

“Serving as the United Way Campaign chair is a tremendous honor,” said Smith upon taking on the role. “The work the United Way and their partner agencies do for children, families and seniors in Milford is important in keeping our community’s and neighbors strong, healthy and thriving and is vital to so many of those in our community.”

In 2017, the Annual United Way Campaign raised over $813,699 to support its 20 Partner Agencies. The 2018 Campaign Chairs will focus on fundraising efforts for the campaign, beginning with the 17th Annual Golf Classic, “Golf For A Cause”, a major fundraiser for United Way on September 21st.

“We hope to expand our base of support by engaging more members of our community who will donate their money, time and voice to these important initiatives,” said United Way of Milford President Gary Johnson.
