Former alderman Joe Garbus will be appearing at Milford Library on November 13 at 6:30pm to sign copies of his short memoir, Kid From Pinsk.
Born in Russia during World War II, his family was sent to a slave labor camp in Siberia. The journey with his family is filled with hardship and terror. He describes his arrival in America in 1951 as “when my second life started.”
Though he spoke no English, through hard work and determination he was selected for the US Army’s elite Ranger unit and served in Korea. He settled in Milford in 1984 and served as an alderman representing Walnut Beach.
All are welcome to hear his amazing, moving story. Copies of his book are for sale for $20.00. Cash or check.
