Milford Prevention Council February 2019 Heroes of the Month: Rev. Ashley Grant and Michele Steinlauf of Milford's Food 2 Kids Program

Milford Prevention Council (MPC) is pleased to announce February 2019 Heroes of the Month, Rev. Ashley Grant and Michele Steinlauf of Milford's Food 2 Kids program.

Nominated by Nikki Wayne of Mathewson Elementary School, Rev. Ashley Grant and Michele Steinlauf are the coordinators of the Milford Food 2 Kids program, an initiative from the First United Christ of Christ in Milford piloted after a program that Rev. Ashley's mother started in Georgia.

The Food 2 Kids program helps feed local children who have little or no food resources during the weekend away from school. Rev. Ashley and Michele work closely with the Connecticut Food Bank, The Milford Bank and many others in the Milford community in order to ensure the success of this program.

"Not only do they coordinate the purchase of the food from the Connecticut Food Bank, as well as food donations, and the transportation and storage of the food items; each week they orchestrate the packing of the food bags on Thursdays and the delivery of over 160 bags on Fridays for the Milford Public Schools. As stated on their website they are passionate about making sure that children have the resources they need to thrive so they have reached out to meet this local need. I am beyond grateful for what they do and for their support to our Milford community, says Ms. Wayne.
