Joseph Enright and Matthew Thurston To Chair Boys & Girls Village Fundraiser

Boys & Girls Village (BGV) is pleased to announce that Board Members Joseph Enright and Matthew Thurston will chair their 2019 ‘Compass to Success’ fundraiser, the organization’s only fundraising event of the year. The event will be held on Thursday, June 6th from 6:30pm – 10pm at Black Rock Yacht Club in Bridgeport.

A long-time Boys & Girls Village supporter, Joseph Enright, of Woodbridge, CT, joined the Board in 2016 and currently chairs the board development committee. A Partner at CBP in Stamford, he has been in the insurance industry since 1997, with a concentration in serving employers in the nonprofit sector. He is an active board member for Boys & Girls Village, the Cardinal Shehan Center, The Farms Country Club and serves on the Development Committee at Community Health Resources.

“I joined the board at BGV because it gave me the opportunity to give back to the community we serve. The opportunity to help families and children get their lives back on track is time well spent,” said Enright. “When I have spoken about BGV I always talk about giving a hand up as opposed to a hand out.”

Matthew Thurston, a Milford resident, joined the Boys & Girls Village Board in 2018 and is a member of the board development committee. He is a member of the sales and marketing team at his family company, Thurston Foods, Inc. of Wallingford, which has been in the food distribution business for over 70 years. Thurston is also an active member of the Toast Masters organization.

“I really enjoy seeing people realize their potential and achieve their goals,” said Thurston. “It is truly fascinating when people can, at the same time, overcome great obstacles. Boys & Girls Village helps people do these things.”

Boys & Girls Village encourages the community to support this exceptional seaside event, which features cocktails, mingling, great music, delicious food, inspiring speakers and the satisfaction of helping those in our community who need it most. The lively evening attracts 150 community and business leaders and last year raised nearly $200,000 to support at-risk children and families throughout the state.
