Platt Tech Senior Wins AAA Traffic Safety Poster Contest -- Again

A Platt Technical High School Senior is a First-Place winner in AAA Northeast’s Annual Traffic Safety Message Contest in Connecticut.

Taylor Jensen received a plaque and a $300 prize for his poster illustrating a distracted driving theme, in the 9th-12th Grade category. Taylor was a Third-Place winner in last year’s contest with a poster illustrating a similar theme.

Contest topics varied by grade level and included seatbelt and booster seat use, school bus and bike safety, and distracted and impaired driving awareness. The videos and artwork of finalists are displayed on the www.AAA.com/safetymatters  website.

Second and Third Place category winners were Ella Devault, a 10th grader at Stamford’s Academy of Information Technology & Engineering; and Emma Huizinga, an 11th grade home-schooled student from Danbury, respectively. Ella’s poster illustrated a distracted driving theme; Emma’s poster illustrated a drowsy driving theme. Ella and Emma received plaques and $200 and $100 checks, respectively.

More than 500 students in Fairfield, New Haven, and Litchfield Counties participated in the contest, which AAA Northeast conducts annually to generate a greater awareness of safe traffic practices among elementary and high school students.
