City of Milford Announces Career Assistance Program

Mayor Benjamin G. Blake announced a Career Assistance Program on Thursday, February 20, 2020 11AM-2PM in the Parson’s Gymnasium located at 70 West River Street.

In response to news of Subway’s restructuring, The City of Milford has jumped into action to support its local workforce. Mayor Blake said, “This impacts our neighbors, friends and family.

The City is prepared and committed to working with Subway and the Workforce Alliance, amongst other organizations, to ensure a pathway for continued employment. From my understanding, this downsizing is part of a long-term plan to improve efficiencies and performance within the company. I am hopeful that the end result will mean future growth for the company, making way for new opportunities in Milford and beyond.” Milford’s Economic Development Department along with the Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce, Workforce Alliance are adding new employers and resources by the hour.

The program will include Yale-New Haven Hospital, Amazon, Indeed, Foxwoods Resort & Casino, Yale University, U.S. Census Bureau, TBNG Consulting, Carlson State Farm Insurance, The McIntyre Group, Mohegan Sun Casino & Resort, Beyond Business Tools & Services, Durham Bus Services, UniFirst Corporation, Imagineers, LLC., Cintas Corporation, Kolmar Americas, Inc., Aced My Interview, AMS Practice Management Recruitment Specialist, Lecoq Cuisine, Teed, Co., Milford Police Department, Energy Electronics, LLC., McInnis Inc., Ashcroft Inc., Olympic Steel, MPL Resources, Goodwill Career Centers, Colony Hardware Corporation, Nuovo Pasta Productions Ltd, Bozzuto's Inc. Aquinas Consulting, Graphic Image, PFP Services, Planet Fitness Corporate, Avangrid, Post University, and Randstad Professionals, amongst many more. We will also have representatives from Holberton School, a two-year software engineering program in New Haven.

With the workforce development needs of Connecticut’s manufacturing industry, Housatonic Community College will be in attendance with information on both short term and longer-term Advanced Manufacturing certifications along with Career Services. Also, on deck are local professionals to review LinkedIn and resumes along with Milford Photo for new headshots. We suggest job seekers bring copies of resume, USB and laptop if possible.
