City of Milford COVID-19 Update, 11 Confirmed Cases in Milford

The City of Milford’s response to COVID-19 continues to focus on the health and safety of our residents.  Please see the below community updates:

Governor Lamont’s recent Executive Order restricts social and recreational gatherings to groups of five or fewer.  The Executive Order also suspended the tax on single-use plastic bags.

City playgrounds, as well as basketball, pickleball, and tennis courts have been closed in order to prevent close-space interaction amongst users.  Residents, while practicing social distancing, are instead encouraged to take advantage of Milford’s open space, parks and walking trails (https://www.ci.milford.ct.us/open-space-natural-resource/pages/milford-open-space-walks).  COVID-19 is highly contagious and being outside does not ease the need for social distancing.

Bridgeport Hospital--Milford Campus opened its drive-thru testing site at 831 Boston Post Road.  Persons experiencing symptoms must first contact a health care provider for a script ordering COVID-19 testing before visiting the testing center.

Currently, there are 11confirmed COVID-19 cases in Milford. The Health Department is working with the CT Department of Public Health to identify, notify, and monitor potential contacts that may have been exposed.

Residents are encouraged to sign-up for City of Milford and State of Connecticut alerts and follow the City Facebook page for updates:

Everyone must take precautions to remain healthy and limit the community spread of this virus.  Avoid leaving home if sick, be diligent about washing hands and covering up coughs and sneezes, clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces in household common areas and avoid places where groups of five or more persons may gather.  If experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, please:

  • Call a medical provider before going to their office or call the Yale New Haven Health System COVID-19 Call Center at 203-688-1700.
  • Stay home except to get necessary medical care.  Do not go to public areas.  Avoid using public transportation.
  • Monitor symptoms.  If condition is worsening (i.e. difficulty breathing), seek emergency medical attention.  Notify the healthcare provider BEFORE arriving or being evaluated for COVID-19.
