LifeBridge Appoints Dara Richards, MD to Board of Directors

Dara Thomas Richards, MD, Chief Medical Officer at Southwest Community Health Center appointed to the LifeBridge Community Services Board of Directors

LifeBridge Community Services, a community based non-profit, whose mission is to partner with Bridgeport’s youth and families to build resilience and help people reach their full potential in life, proudly announces the appointment of Dara Thomas Richards, MD, Chief Medical Officer and Pediatrician at Southwest Community Health Center to its Board of Directors.

“Dr. Richards brings with her a lifelong passion for the LifeBridge mission and specifically youth development and education," said Alan Mathis, LifeBridge President & CEO, "Her sterling reputation in the Bridgeport community will make her an outstanding ambassador and role model for personal achievement for those we serve, especially girls and women of color."

“We are excited about Dr. Richards joining the Board of Directors. Her impressive 25-year career serving children and families in our neighborhood – the West End of Bridgeport – will help us immeasurably to maximize our impact,” said Howard Greene, LifeBridge Board Chairman.

“I am drawn to the work being done at LifeBridge; especially the Urban Scholars After School and Summer Day Camp program for local middle school students, to foster youth development and education. After having personally witnessed the program in action, I am excited about this opportunity to support the LifeBridge mission,” said Dr. Richards.  

Dr. Richards served as the Urban Scholars Summer Day Camp Medical Director for the inaugural in-person session this past June by ensuring access to COVID-19 testing for students and staff. Her leadership and expertise allowed LifeBridge to operate a safe and nurturing program for all. Dr. Richards has served as a pediatrician at Southwest Community Health Center since 1998. She attended Yale University School of Medicine and completed her pediatrics residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, CT.
