LifeBridge Distributes Hundreds of Turkeys to Clients and
Area Churches this Thanksgiving
LifeBridge Community Services, a community based non-profit, whose mission is to partner with Bridgeport’s youth and families to build resilience and help people reach their full potential in life, distributed 200 turkeys yesterday to clients and four churches in the West End, including Bethel AME, New Vision International Ministries, Black Rock’s Neighborhood Community Church and Ebenezer Gospel Academy to help those who may face food insecurity this Thanksgiving. COVID has placed added burdens on many people, especially due to job loss. LifeBridge extended a helping hand by distributing turkeys to the churches to share with their members along with gift cards for those families with younger members in juvenile detention.
“We want to let our community, especially those who live in the West End, know that LifeBridge is there for them,” said Alan Mathis, President & CEO of LifeBridge. “These churches serve many of the same people that are our clients and we want to be sure no one goes without during a time when we all should find reason to give thanks. It’s been a hard year and this is our way of bringing a little happiness into our neighbor’s homes.”
“Our message is one of resiliency,” said Mathis. “Many of our friends and neighbors are going through tough times, dark times--but we will get through this and LifeBridge is here to make sure those we serve have the promise of a brighter future within a stronger community.”
