Creativity Connects Milford

What fuels a vibrant, connected, and creative community? What makes people feel good about living in Milford?

When locals share the creativity that they uncover in the nooks and crannies of their community it brings about connectivity and makes us all feel good. Believe it or not, you discover creativity every day as you walk, shop, work, and play in Milford.

Creativity connects us.

Meet April Bryant, Marketing and Enrollment Manager at St. Mary School in Milford.

Tell us about an organization in your town that makes you feel good

St. Mary School as an organization in Milford that makes me feel good. I have the best job because I get to introduce families to a school that I love and truly believe in. My 3 children attended St. Mary's from when they were little 3 years olds in preschool until they graduated 8th grade, and the foundation they received was priceless. The academics, faith formation, development of character and morals, emphasis on treating everyone with kindness and empathy, instilling the importance of service to others are just some of the ways they helped shape their minds and hearts. The school will celebrate its 60th anniversary this year and I'm honored to be a part of its continued growth.

Where do you go for inspiration and creativity?

I find lots of inspiration and creativity when I shop local. Downtown Milford is such a gem and I wish everyone would be conscious of supporting our small businesses. Shops like Sophie Claire's, The Lovet Shop, SV Decker, Island Time, Fleurescent, and Whispers are just a few that I love and admire. Let's also not forget all the great eateries downtown like Scratch Baking, Cafe Atlantique, Elis, SBC, Colony, Stonebridge, Citrus, Taste of Thai, Founders Pub, and all the others that we are so lucky to have in town. All the different ways the owners have pivoted to continue on during the pandemic is inspiring in itself!

What do you love about your community?

I love that the town offers so many family-friendly events throughout the year, the parades, craft fairs on the green, Oyster Festival, Lamplight Stroll, Pirates' Day, all the shops and restaurants, the beaches, the library, our Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Milford Business Association and all the work they do, all the different faith communities, and the sports and recreation opportunities for the kids. There is so much good here in Milford - we're very lucky.
