Connecticut Press Club Announces 2021 Communications Contest for High Schoolers

 

Entries Being Accepted in 23 Writing, Editing, Broadcast, and Visual Art Categories 

The Connecticut Press Club is holding its first Communications Contest for high school students. Teens statewide are encouraged to enter work in 23 categories, including op-ed columns, blog posts, news and feature stories, radio, video, photographs, and cartoons. 

All entries must have been published or broadcast between February 1, 2021, and January 31, 2022, by a publication in a recognized medium for the category. i.e., a school, local, or national newspaper, website, radio or TV station, etc. 

The deadline for high school entrants is at noon in the entrant’s time zone on February 9, 2022, and the fee is $5. Click HERE for the complete list of categories. 

The contest is open to all high school students in the state and recent graduates. This includes public, private, and home-schooled students who reside in Connecticut.

“We are excited to welcome the next generation of storytellers, journalists, and other creative teenagers to our annual contest and to honor them for their work,” said Michele Turk, president of the CT Press Club. 

The contest will be judged by communications professionals who are members of the Connecticut Press Club. 

First-place entries in the state contest are eligible to advance to the national contest sponsored by the National Federation of Press Women. 

The Connecticut Press Club’s popular Communications Contest, which rewards excellence in 61 categories, is also accepting entries from communications professionals statewide. Click HERE to enter. 

The Connecticut Press Club is an affiliate of the National Federation of Press Women (NFPW) and includes both male and female members. The club welcomes all types of communicators: writers, editors, bloggers, authors, educators, public relations professionals, media photographers, students, and more.
