Italian & Portuguese Cuisine on the Green
Have you been to Milford Green Pizza lately? Go. Now. I hadn't been there in months and I don't think I'll let that much time slip by again. We were there a bit later in the day but as usual, it hit the spot. The menu is full of choices which makes it tough to narrow it down to one. We asked questions and Jen was helpful in getting us to make up our minds. I ended up getting a philly cheesesteak in a wrap. It was very good. I have to explain that this is not usually something that I order on a menu but I'm glad I did. You see, I'm originally from Philadelphia. It's kinda like ordering clam chowder in Kansas. You don't. Now I consider myself an open-minded person, especially when it comes to food. But it's difficult to even compare what I grew up on with anything else. Occasionally my carnivore craving will kick into high gear and I need to fill the void. Back to the cheesesteak. It was hot, delicious and had plenty of american cheese on it. I've had many, many cheesesteaks that were more like "where's-the-cheese" steaks. Now I know many of you are thinking that because of my roots, that I'd be all about the whiz... but I'm not. Gino's vs Pat's is not an argument that is worth discussing (Geno's). I never really understood why one of them is the "best". Pick which one you like and move on. I'm not into the whiz... I prefer American cheese and an Amaroso's roll but that's another story altogether.
Their menu isn't too big or too small and they always have tempting specials which is a plus in my book. The wood floors and brick walls give it a classic feel and getting a table by the big windows makes for some of the best people watching in Milford. When the weather gets warmer (and this better be soon), this virtual wall of windows opens up and you can plop yourself down at a table literally ON the sidewalk. Can't come soon enough.
