St. Mary School, Milford, Honors H.O.P.E.S. Award Recipients

2018  St. Mary School Milford H.O.P.E.S. Award Recipients

Hartford Archbishop Leonard P. Blair and Superintendent of Catholic Schools Dr. Michael Griffin saluted 98 volunteers from 36 Catholic elementary schools at the 41st annual HOPES (Help Our Parish Elementary Schools) Dinner on Tuesday, September 25th. Each volunteer received a St. John Neumann Award for their unwavering commitment to their schools. St. Mary School is proud to recognize Mr. Tracy Hart & Mr. Dennis Riordan as this year's worthy recipients.

Dennis and his wife, Maureen, are the parents of two SMS alumni. While a parent at the school, Dennis served as a basketball coach and, later, as chair of the Annual St. Mary School Basketball Tournament for which he remains a co-chair to this day even though his children have long since graduated. Thanks to him and many others, this event raises close to $20,000 annually for the school, not to mention the school spirit it raises.   Tracy and his wife, Linda, are also the parents of two SMS alumni. During their time at the school, they were active parent volunteers in many capacities, with Tracy being a big promoter of the basketball program. He was an assistant coach for his son, and head coach for his daughter’s team.

We thank Tracey, Dennis and their wives for their dedication to all the children of St. Mary School.
