Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Hair Canvas Salon!

Three questions with Erin Coyle, owner of Hair Canvas Salon, a group of independent, yet like-minded hair artists. We are highly trained colorists specializing in Balayage and hair painting.

Why did you start your business?

I started my salon a year and a half ago. I have had a love of hair since childhood. After attending Ricci's academy of hair in 2003, I trained for two years exclusively in the color department at renowned Hopscotch salon in Greenwich. After years of working on the shoreline, I wanted to get back to her hometown of charming Milford, CT and follow her dream of owning a salon.

Finish this sentence in regard to your business: I wish I could...

I wish I could tell anyone scared to make the leap to believe in themselves and it’s possible. If you can dream it you can do it!

Best selling product or service?

Balayage is what we do the most of but we love all color services! I'm an educator for masters of Balayage.
