Milford Public Library 2020 February Program Calendar

February News at the Library!

Many important celebrations take place this month!  First, in recognition of Black History Month we are hosting a lecture (February 12) by Alicia Labrador on the Black Heritage Stamp Series. The commemorative stamps depict distinguished African Americans and their contributions. We will also honor one of the most celebrated artists of all times, Aretha Franklin. Vocalist Rhonda Denet will get us all dancing as she performs (February 9) some of the Queen of Soul's most successful hits.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th amendment. The Milford CT Suffrage Centennial Commmittee, and community partners, will be hosting events all year marking this historic event, which guaranteed that the right to vote would not be denied based on sex. The library will  be co-sponsoring a showing (February 20)  of the film, Iron Jawed Angels, which highlights this pivotal chapter in American history.  Follow the Milford CT Suffrage Centennial, 1920-2020 Committee on facebook to stay up to date on community wide programs.
