The Bees Knees Cafe located at 17 Broadway in the Walnut Beach area of Milford, says they have been stung with some unfortunate news. "It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce our closing at this location on Saturday, December 31, 2022," the Bees Knees team explains.
The buzz is that the landlord of the popular beach-side cafe decided not to renew the lease. "We were not given ample time or consideration to find a suitable space to move to in this area," they posted on Instagram.
Milford resident and chef Nancy Burke opened The Bees Knees in November 2019 and quickly earned acclaim for the cafe's friendly staff, homebaked goods and gourmet lunch specialties. She says, "When we first opened our doors in November 2019, we never could have expected the outpouring of love and support that we’ve received from our beautiful community and beyond over the last three years."
On summer days, The Bees Knees happily delivered lunch to beach-goes via the bee-utifully decorated Bees Knees Volkswagon beetle or retro-cruiser bike.
While the news stings, The Bees Knees staff says they are hopeful they will find a new hive soon. "As heartbreaking as this may be we refuse to let this break our spirit. This is not a loss, it is a lesson, and we are more determined than ever to come back stronger and wiser than before."
