I 95 Trailer Tractor Rollover in Milford

On March 5th at 7:52 a.m., Vehicle #1 was traveling southbound on Interstate 95 in the right lane of three, just south of exit 37 on the ramp in the city of Milford. Vehicle #2 was traveling in the same area, in the center lane of three. Vehicle #2 attempted to move right into the right lane. Operator #2 failed to observe Vehicle #1 and crashed into its driver's side rear quarter panel causing Operator #1 to lose control and spin 180 degrees, crashing into the right shoulder metal wire guardrail. Vehicle #2, a tandem tractor-trailer lost control causing the second trailer to tip over onto its side before coming to final rest against the concrete divider median. Due to hazardous contents in the tipper over trailer, Milford Fire Department was requested and responded to the scene. The Department of Transportation (DOT) assisted with lane closures. The northbound left lane was closed for precautions and the southbound left and center lanes were closed while some of the contents of the trailer were offloaded and removed from the scene. The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) responded to the scene to assist. Vehicle #1 and the trailer of Vehicle #2 were towed from the scene by Robert's Service Center of Milford. Vehicle #2 was able to be driven from the scene. Operator #2 was issued an infraction of Unsafe Lane Change.
