Connecticut Resident Dies In Milford MVA

Connecticut State Police report that this morning, January 11, 2019, at approximately 6:35 a.m., Troopers from Troop G-Bridgeport were dispatched to the report of an accident involving one tractor-trailer in the Milford area of Interstate 95 Southbound between exits 41 and exit 40.

According to the police report, Troopers responded and found that the vehicle, a 2019 International Tractor with Tennessee registration, traveled off of the roadway and down an embankment. The tractor-trailer was pulling a 53-foot cargo trailer full of bottled water and had been traveling in the right lane of three in the area of Quarry Road overpass.

The vehicle traveled down the embankment striking numerous trees of various sizes. This resulted in the tractor-trailer jack-knifing and partially overturning. The trailer broke apart resulting in a significant portion of the trailer' load spilled, Police say.

According to police, the operator of the vehicle, its sole occupant, Jean C. Fabre-benoit of Prospect Connecticut, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene. Two lanes of 1-95 were shut down for an extended period of time for the investigation and cleanup.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact Troper Hawley #1445 at Troop G Bridgeport: 203-696-2500. Reference case number 1900016756.
