The Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County celebrates the vibrancy and diversity of the arts and culture across the 15 towns in our region of coastal Fairfield County and each Tuesday issues our free E-Buzz newsletter with a selection of the hundreds of events posted to our website by our members.

Live music and theatre is making its way back to our stages (and other venues) slowly but surely. Saturday morning at 11am, the Milford Arts Council presents one in its series of “Summer Pop-Ups” - this week at Walnut Beach - with New York dancer Maria Cherniske and friends, while at 2pm, the locally renowned Madera Winds Quintet performs 20th-century dance music at the spacious Hollis Taggart Gallery in Southport. Later on Saturday, you can hear a classical concert in a classic venue: the American Chamber Orchestra performs Mozart, Telemann and Beethoven in the Norwalk Concert Hall. And then Sunday, ready for some outdoor jazz? At 5pm, BackCountry Jazz kicks off its Summer Jazz series that takes place in some of the most bucolic of Greenwich gardens. This week: Bennie Wallace and friends - you only find out which garden after you buy your ticket.

Theatre is also back. Ready for a night of hilarity? Stamford’s Curtain Call Theatre is presenting the award-winning musical comedy Nunsense this Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 2pm (and again next weekend). A quintet of nuns from Hoboken is putting on a fund-raising talent show in a high school gym. The result? Hands down hilarious! And if you’re in Fairfield at noon next Tuesday, Play With Your Food presents its signature mix of a gourmet lunch with Broadway actors giving readings of three one-act plays about the trials and tribulations of romance. Noon, outside the Fairfield Theater Company

Let’s not forget the visual arts. An opening that many have been long awaiting is the Pop-Up Exhibition of 13 artists from the Artists Collective of Westport, that was to have been shown last March but was cancelled because of COVID. Head for the Gallery in the Westport Country Playhouse Barn for one of the best opening receptions around, from 2pm to 6pm - with some very lively art on display.

And on Sunday, especially if you have a lot of pent-up energy and are seeking an artistic outlet, go to the Silvermine Arts Center and “Draw Until You Drop.” Join Silvermine Guild artists and Silvermine teachers who will help you you as you draw from livem models, still-life set-ups, or explore landscape drawing outside on the campus.
