Milford Police Arrest Man in Connection with Catalytic Converter Theft

On Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at approximately 2:49 AM, Milford Police responded to 39 Baker St regarding a possible larceny in progress. The victim stated he had been in his garage at this time and heard a noise that he believed sounded like cutting metal. He then walked to his driveway where he observed a male actively cutting off the catalytic converter of his vehicle.

The victim stated the suspect was a male in dark, navy-colored clothing and was riding a bicycle. Officers checked the area and observed a male matching this description; however, the suspect fled the scene leaving his bicycle behind.

Assistance from Seymour PD K9, Argus, was used for a K9 track which led to a male, identified as Anthony Machia (DOB 5/30/1983), in the baseball field at Jonathan Law High School.

Machia was found to be in possession of a small ax, Sawzall blades, flashlights, and an LED headlamp which are consistent with tools used to cut catalytic converters off vehicles.

Machia was placed under arrest at 3:30 AM and transported to Milford Police HQ where he was processed.

Machia was charged with:

Larceny in the 4th Degree

Criminal Mischief in the 2nd Degree

Machia posted a $20,000 bond and was given a court date of 5/11/2022 at Milford Superior Court, GA-22.
