GAMECHANGER, LLC and Barnes & Noble Work Together to Promote Children’s Literacy
GAMECHANGER, LLC (GAMECHANGER) is running its fourth annual children’s book drive throughout the month of May. With the help of the community, GAMECHANGER will collect new and gently used children’s books to donate to The Children’s Aid Society’s Discovery Literacy Program at Wagon Road Day Camp in Chappaqua, NY. The books donated will provide easier access to literature for underprivileged children at the camp.
With the help of the Westchester community, GAMECHANGER’s last three Children’s Book Drives have provided reading materials to thousands of children in need. The growing success of previous years has inspired GAMECHANGER’s to expand its efforts this year. For the first time ever, GAMECHANGER will host an event in conjunction with Barnes & Noble for one week.
Starting on May 12 through May 19, GAMECHANGER will distribute a customized barcode that can be used to buy books at any Barnes & Noble or online at barnesandnoble.com. For that week only, a percentage of sales will be donated automatically to the Wagon Road Day Camp’s literacy program when the barcode is used.
To further draw attention to this worthy cause, Vince Canziani, director of the Children’s Aid Wagon Road Day Camp, will read an excerpt from Pigs Aplenty, Pigs Galore by David McPhail on Friday, May 12 at 12:30 PM at the Barnes & Noble, Eastchester, Vernon Hills Shopping Center, 680 White Plains Road, Scarsdale, New York.
“At Wagon Road Camp, we want to make sure kids get fresh air in a safe environment, that they have fun, but also that they keep their mind engaged,” said Vince Canziani. “And reading is a critical part of that goal. We include a strong reading component in our program so that all kids maintain and improve their skills throughout the summer. This book drive is a huge help.”
