Accreditation Guru, which helps guide private and public health and human service organizations through the national accreditation process, announces the hiring of three new professionals who will expand the organization’s service areas.

Debbie MacCarry, Maddi Noleen and Carol Smith come aboard as new accreditation consultants.

Debbie MacCarry is a seasoned accreditation expert with more than 35 years of experience working in the nonprofit arena. Throughout her 10 years as a peer reviewer for the Council on Accreditation, Debbie shared her extensive knowledge about the accreditation process and accompanying standards, participating in numerous team reviews.

Debbie serves as a team leader for the National Commission for the Accreditation of Special Education Services, is a lead visitor for the American Camp Association and coordinated the accreditation process for a nursery school with the National Association for the Education of Young Children. She earned a Bachelor of Arts at Western Connecticut State University and a Master of Science in Special Education at Southern Connecticut State University.

Maddi Noleen has accumulated more than 25 years of accreditation experience in areas including child welfare, behavioral health and adoption. She specializes in policy and procedure development, staff training, administration and management standards implementation, along with self-study compilation and review. In addition, she is an expert in U.S. Department of State regulations for inter-country adoption (Hague Accreditation Standards).

She serves as executive director for a state-wide, faith-based child welfare agency in Colorado and is currently a Peer Reviewer, Team Leader, Hague Evaluator and Military Reviewer for the Council on Accreditation. Maddi earned a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Southern Colorado and holds a Master of Social Work from New Mexico Highlands University with a concentration in Administration and Family Services.

Carol Smith has worked in prevention and education, outpatient care, residential and inpatient care, sub-acute detoxification and psychosocial and vocational programs during her 38-year career as a clinician, supervisor, administrator and consultant in the behavioral health field. She has also developed extensive experience working in programs dedicated to special populations, including child welfare, adolescents, the criminal justice system and people with co-occurring disorders.

Carol presently serves as the clinical director for a Catholic Charities organization that delivers services throughout 21 counties in northern Michigan. Her experience as a surveyor for the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for the past 25 years provides an exceptional foundation to guide accreditation clients. In addition, she is a survey report editor, trainer and mentor who serves on the appeals board for CARF.

Carol earned a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Michigan State University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Advanced Addiction Counselor.
