State Police investigate wrong-way crash that occurred on Interstate 684

Bedford, New York – On December 18, 2016 at approximately 11:30 p.m., New York State Police from the Somers barracks were dispatched to Interstate 684 in the area of Exit 4 for a reported head-on collision involving a wrong-way driver.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a Carmel man entered Interstate 684 from the southbound Exit 4 ramp heading northbound in the southbound lanes.  A Yonkers man who was traveling southbound was unable to avoid the northbound vehicle and the two struck head-on.
The Yonkers man was transported to Westchester Medical Center and was treated for non-life threatening injures. The Carmel man is listed in critical condition at Westchester Medical Center.
The crash remains under investigation and updates will be posted to nyspnews.com as information becomes available.
