Zuma New York Launch

When I lived and worked in London, UK, the dining scene had exploded and vibrant, diverse restaurants were springing up everywhere. Londoners became food obsessed and were spoiled for choice, with multiple Michelin star restaurants and exciting new concepts. One restaurant I will always remember was Zuma, which launched in Knightsbridge in 2002. The restaurant was the brainchild of award winning German-born Chef, Rainer Becker. The interior of Zuma was dark, modern and relaxed. The Japanese cuisine was fresh and exciting and the concept was sharing - inspired by the informal dining style of izakaya. Soon after a casual sister restaurant, ROKA was launched.

Becker developed the Zuma concept while working in Tokyo, where he spent six years learning the intricacies of both Japanese food and culture. Its success led to the opening of Zuma restaurants in Hong Kong (2007) Istanbul (2008) Dubai (2009) and Miami (2010).

On Wednesday, January 21st, Zuma - serving internationally acclaimed style of modern Japanese cuisine will open in midtown, New York! According to the website: "Situated over 2 levels, noriyoshi muramatsu of studio glitt, has designed a location that both captures the style and elegance of Zuma worldwide, yet embraces unique elements seen only in New York. Serving dishes designed to share, inspired by the informal dining style of izakaya; the three kitchens present authentic yet alluring options, with bold flavors and simple presentation, highlighting quality ingredients."

I can't wait to try it.
