I am a huge fan of Halo - no pressure or extortionate joining fees - just drop in when you can for circuit training, reflexology, yoga, pilates and so much more.
Nearwater Pilates is run by Nancy Lochtefeld and I dropped in last Monday to her group mat session at 10am. It had been 2-years since I had done any pilates, but after a few movements, it came flooding back. Nancy says: "Pilates enhances respiratory, lymphatic and circulatory function while improving posture, coordination and balance. This can make you feel stronger, taller, leaner and more flexible".
I remember taking my first pilates class four years ago and thinking this is doing nothing for me and how can these small movements improve my fitness and stamina (fast forward 24 hours later when my thighs, stomach and arms were hurting) That was it - I was addicted.
Pilates may not be for everyone. You don't get the rush you get from an aerobics work out but you do as Nancy says feel taller and stronger. If you keep it up you get a more defined waist and legs. After the class I felt energized and at my age want to keep my body strong and posture correct.
Nancy offers group mat classes every Monday and on Wednesday and Fridays there is a Barres, Bells and Bands class. She will also be offering a Mother/ Daughter Reformer Special:
June 22nd- August 1st
Single session- $80 (per duet)
Package of 5- $350
