INDIA New Canaan Launches Monday

It's hotting up as INDIA, New Canaan prepares to launch its farm to table restaurant serving traditional Indian with Western-influenced small plates, created by celebrated Chef Prasad Chirnomula on Monday, April 4th.

Chef Prasad recognizes the importance of seasonal, well prepared, fresh ingredients so is working with local producers and Hudson Valley Harvest who deliver the finest farm to table ingredients. His menu will provide diners with the opportunity to experience new, inspired dishes that uniquely combine creativity with authenticity such as: Spicy Chicken Burger on a Brioche Bun; Asian Salad; and Portuguese-Style Shrimp with Piri Piri Sauce. Chef’s Signature Dishes include: Jumbo Lump Crab Meat - Coconut Lemon Sauce with Gooseberry Beet Patties and Pan Grilled Rack of Lamb with seasonal chimichurri, alongside staple Masalas, Vindaloos, Kormas, Kababs, Biryani, Tandoori Breads and so much more.

The interior (formerly Boulevard 18) has been revamped to reflect the warmth and character of a cozy British Pub. The inviting bar area, complete with high-top tables and an ornate zinc bar, will seat 20. The intimate dining room with bright red banquets, free standing tables and fabric partitions comfortably seats 50 people. The bright al fresco patio overlooking Main Street, will easily seat 25 guests - where a portable kabab, bread station and pop up bar will feature.

The kitchen is equipped with a Tandoor Oven and stocked with imported Indian spices – everything will be produced from scratch, with no artificial colorings or preservatives. From Mama’s Curry sauces, to homemade breads,  and pickles.

While the food is undoubtedly the star, drinks are equally impressive. Visiting Professor of Mixology Jessica Spector has designed a menu of revived classics, vintage innovations, original specialities, and barrel aged cocktails. The innovative  ‘Whiskies of the World’ sampling menu will take customers on a SPIRITual journey discovering Malt Scotch Whiskies. When summer descends you can choose a different path and explore British Gins.

INDIA is open 7-days a week for lunch 11.30am – 2.30pm, dinner 5 – 9.30pm. Sunday Brunch with a British twist 11.30am – 2.30pm and dinner 4 - 8.30pm. Happier Hours take place 7-days a week between 5-7pm.
