Glass House presents: Sinfonietta Cracovia in partnership with St. Mark’s Church on June 3

Sinfonietta Cracovia, one of Europe's premiere chamber orchestras, will present their flagship project combining the film and concert music of two great composers—Philip Glass and Wojciech Kilar—as part of their international tour.

Wojciech Kilar composed film music and is known for many masterpieces of Polish cinema. He is perhaps best known abroad as the composer of Jane Campion’s The Portrait of a Lady and Francis Ford Coppola’s Dracula.  Known for his avant-garde work in the 1960s and 70s, Philip Glass was nominated for three Academy Awards for Notes on a Scandal, The Hours, and Kundun.

The concert also includes a performance by the young Polish pianist and composer Aleksander Dębicz and the orchestra’s principal conductor Katarzyna Tomala-Jedynak.

Glass House Presents is an ongoing series of talks, performances, and other live events that extend the site’s historic role as a gathering place for artists, architects, and other creative minds. This concert is co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland, and presented in partnership with the Polish Cultural Institute New York and Supertrain Records. The tour is co-organized by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute within the "Programme of events accompanying the celebration of Wojciech Kilar’s 90th birthday (2022) and the 10th anniversary of his death (2023)".
