Why Did the Farmer Cross the Road..?

Good news for anyone who has always wanted to eat at New Canaan's Farmer's Table, but has had trouble securing a reservation in this intimate restaurant - it is about to move to larger premises across the street.

Chef / Patron Robert Ubaldo has a simple philosophy when it comes to sourcing and preparing food and that won't change when they move. The food at the Farmers Table is based on a few simple ideas. Using fresh ingredients from reliable, responsible sources, growing them whenever possible, using time tested techniques. All food is made fresh to order.

On the Farmer's Table Facebook page, Robert says: "I have been a chef most of my adult life and have been growing my own food for as long. Although Farm to Table dining is a relatively new trend, I know no other way. It's the way I have always done it, so it is the norm, not the exception. During the season we grow organic vegetables, in our garden where we live in Pound Ridge. My brother John owns and operates John Boys Farm in Cambridge NY. He raises all natural beef, pork, chickens, ducks, and vegetables on 180 acres so we have excellent, chemical free, humanely raised meat available all year round.

The work is continuing on the new space, located at 12 Forest Street (formerly Bonne Nuit) but the opening is imminent. The food offering will be the same and the interior will be simple rustic charm, casual and warm - just in bigger premises.

As soon as we hear more about the grand opening, we'll be sure to let you know....
