New Fairfield's Throwback Thursday Presents "The New Fairfield Volunteer Fire Company"

The New Fairfield Volunteer Fire Company was established in 1934. Thirty-nine men were present for the first meeting. The building in the picture was completed in 1936 and is located in the center of town next to the old cemetery and across the street from the library. In 1982 Company A Fire Company moved to a new building on Ball Pond Road near Consolidated School. The old building in the picture is used as a Town Hall Annex and houses the Finance Department and The Board of Education offices. The Fire Company is still operates with dedicated volunteers from New Fairfield.

The picture of firehouse and trucks is from about 1960.
