Pack 137 Raises Money for Hoyt Reservation’s Lean-to Campaign

The boy scouts of Pack 137 in New Fairfield have been working hard to focus their fundraising efforts for the Hoyt Reservation Great Lean-tos Campaign. The John Sherman Hoyt Scout Reservation is a camping facility located on 170 acres of forest and fields in West Redding, Connecticut.

After holding multiple bake sales and other fundraisers, they were successful in raising $2,200 in funds, which will go to Hoyt Reservation.  Pack 137, comprised of 26 scouts at the time of the fundraising, was the first unit to meet their fundraising goal.  “Our pack united for this cause to benefit Hoyt Reservation, where we often camp,” said Committee Chair Tricia Grauert, “We wanted to give back to the scouting world that gives the boys such great opportunities in the outdoors.”

The money raised will pay for the materials to build the structure. In the Spring, the scouts of Pack 137 will gather together to take part in the building of their lean-to. Under the guidance of Hoyt Camp Master Greg Zap, they will watch the contruction take, learn how power tools are handled, and discuss building and tool safety.

Pack 137 would like to take the time to thank the New Fairfield community for all of their support.
