The Connecticut Bird Atlas needs your observations

Connecticut Audubon Society "Wading Birds of CT" Webinar Tonight at 7pm

Mid-June is prime nesting season and if you’re into birds, the Connecticut Bird Atlas could use some help.

Connecticut Audubon is a prime sponsor, which means your donations and membership support its day-to-day work. But now the project needs to know about your bird sightings too.

University of Connecticut (UCONN) Professor Chris Elphick, one of the project leaders, explains:

"Simply reporting strong evidence of nesting in your yards (nests, young birds being fed by adults), even by common species (robins, phoebes, etc.) would be helpful. Similarly, birds nesting in nest boxes."

Atlas reporting is fun and engaging. We have details on our website.

Wading Birds of CT Webinar

Tuesday, 16 June, 7 p.m.

Scan a marsh, pond, or mudflat in Connecticut during the summer and you're likely to see a long-legged bird stalking prey. Herons, egrets, ibises, night-herons — these birds are a fixture of Connecticut’s wetlands. Teacher-naturalist Joe Attwater will go over what makes them unique.
