The Danbury Railway Museum is pleased to announce that it will begin the first phase of re-opening on Saturday and Sunday, July 3 and 4 between the hours of 10:00AM and 4:00PM. At this time, the museum will only be open on Saturdays and Sundays going forward. Although the children’s play area will remain closed, the gift shop will be opened on request to one group at a time. In the railyard, a number of pieces of equipment will be open including the 1907 B&M steam engine, the Railway Post Office car, the RDC, and a caboose.
The “Railyard Local,” a short train ride in the historic Danbury rail yard, pulled by a vintage locomotive, will run both days. To celebrate the re-opening, for the first weekend – July 3-4 – admission to the museum and train rides will be FREE! For everyone’s ongoing protection, all volunteers will have been vaccinated and wearing masks; vaccinated visitors are asked to wear masks indoors and while riding in the train; others are asked to wear masks at all times.
