Famed New York Yankees Centerfielder Bernie Williams returns to The Ridgefield Playhouse on August 13 for a Celebrity Softball Game and
Concert to Benefit Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation

Famed New York Yankees Centerfielder and Latin Grammy nominee Bernie Williams returns to The Ridgefield Playhouse on Saturday, August 13, 2022 with another star-studded day featuring celebrities from the worlds of sports and music, all to benefit the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.

The event, which is in collaboration with Boehringer Ingelheim, begins with a celebrity softball game at 1pm on the ballfield next to The Ridgefield Playhouse with Bernie and his bandmates, along with special guests, including legendary New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera and many more! Following the game will be an outdoor concert at 5pm with Bernie and his musical guests also on the outdoor field. In the past, Bernie’s musical guests have included Paul Simon and Paul Shaffer, among others and celebrity softball athletes have included everyone from Darryl Strawberry and David Cone to Mickey Rivers and Tommy Lasorda - just to name a few.

Don’t miss the chance to spend the day with your family on the field with some of the legends in music and baseball!

Raising awareness of pulmonary fibrosis is close to Bernie’s heart. In 2001, Bernie’s father, Bernabé, passed away from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and since 2017, he’s been committed to spreading the word about this rare disease via Boehringer Ingelheim’s Breathless
campaign. The mission of the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation is to accelerate the development of new treatments and ultimately a cure for pulmonary fibrosis.

In his 16-year career as centerfielder for the New York Yankees, Bernie Williams was a four-time World Series Champion and a five-time All Star. Throughout Williams’ years with The Yankees, his passion for music never waned, and the sound of a guitar would often be heard emanating from the clubhouse or during team flights. It was no surprise in 2003 when he demonstrated how serious his musical pursuit was with the release of his first album, The Journey Within. The record featured fusions of jazz, rock and the tropical rhythms of Williams’ heritage and was met with both strong critical praise and instant chart success- reaching #3 on Billboard’s “Contemporary Jazz Chart.”
