WCSU presents Three Sisters by Anton Chekhov

DANBURY, Connecticut — Western Connecticut State University will present the famous drama “Three Sisters” by Anton Chekhov at its MainStage Theatre in the university’s Visual and Performing Arts Center, 43 Lake Ave. Extension, Danbury, for one weekend only, Dec. 1 – 3. Tickets can be ordered in advance at wcsuvpac.eventbrite.com.

Written in 1900, this timeless play visits the themes of change, want and suffering, social class pretensions and the meaning of life. “Three Sisters” tells the tale of the Prozorov sisters who are trying to adjust to living in the backwoods of Russia while reliving the memories of the thriving city (Moscow) they once inhabited. The planned Off-Broadway production of this drama was recently indefinitely postponed, so this a rare opportunity to see this production come to life.

“Angels in America” is brought to the stage by the WCSU Department of Theatre Arts. Showtimes are Friday, Dec. 1, at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 2, at 2 and 8 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 3, at 2 p.m. Ticket prices on wcsuvpac.eventbrite.com are $32 general admission, $25 for those aged 65 and older, and $20 for group tickets and non-WCSU students; fees not included.
