Bridgeport Rescue Mission Thanks Community for Over 11 Tons of Food Donated at Stuff-A-Truck Event
On June 8 and 9, generous community members stuffed Bridgeport Rescue Mission trucks with more than 11 tons of non-perishable foods during the Mission’s Stuff-A-Truck Food Drive at Stop & Shop supermarkets.
For the seventh year in a row, Mission trucks, staff and volunteers were on hand at area Stop & Shop locations to collect items shoppers purchased at the stores and donated as they left. The groceries are used by the Mission to prepare meals served to homeless guests and residents in their dining room, as well as distributed to families and individuals in disadvantaged neighborhoods via their two Mobile Kitchens. The items are also used for their Pantry Bag distribution that gives hungry families enough food to feed a family of four for a week.
