Horizons at New Canaan Country School recently received a $2,500 grant from the Newcomers Club of New Canaan to support the organization’s summer program.
A $2,500 grant from the Newcomer’s Club of New Canaan will support the Horizons at NCCS summer program, which seeks to mitigate the opportunity gap experienced by up to 300 underserved students in kindergarten through grade nine from Stamford and Norwalk each year. The tuition-free summer program provides academic and enrichment programming, including arts, swimming, wellness, community building events, and field trips. The program will focus on individualized student support to help students experience academic growth and provide social-emotional support.
Karlie Reitano, President of the Newcomers Club, said: "After such a hard year, we couldn't be more proud that our organization could make such significant contributions to 19 local charities, including Horizons at NCCS. Horizons Executive Director, Nancy von Euler said: “We are grateful to the Newcomer’s Club of New Canaan for their continued partnership, which is allowing Horizons at NCCS to provide our students with meaningful opportunities for learning, growth and connections.
Founded in 1964, Horizons at NCCS is the first in a nationwide network of programs that are successfully closing the opportunity gap experienced by under-resourced students. Horizons at NCCS builds deep and lasting relationships with the 400 K-12 Norwalk and Stamford students it serves. The six-week Summer Program and year-round academic and enrichment programming help students imagine and achieve a brighter future for themselves.
