Norwalk Community Health Center, Inc. invites everyone to get healthy and be well

Norwalk Community Health Center, Inc. (NCHC) is celebrating National Health Center Week from August 14 to 19, 2017 with a week of free health awareness raising programming. The Center will have free information, activities, screenings, tips and events designed to lead everybody who lives or works in the Greater Norwalk Community – from Darien to Westport, from Weston to Wilton to New Canaan and beyond - towards their best possible health. Health Center week events and updates can be found on the NCHC Facebook page (@norwalkchc). Unless otherwise indicated, all events are at NCHC, 120 Connecticut Avenue, Norwalk (across the street from the Norwalk Fire Department).

Monday, August 14 - Get Moving Monday

12noon – 2 outdoor Fit Walks and indoor UFC gym led lunchtime exercise

7:15 pm – Evening Yoga at Calf Pasture Beach

7:45 pm - Zumba

Tuesday, August 15 – Healthy Community Day and Basic Need Items Drop Off 8 am – 5 pm

Meet our local community partners and the resources they provide such as cancer prevention, life skills, housing, shelter and emergency support, education, voter registration & child safety.

Drop off your donations of essential needs items (food pantry, clothing, children’s books; toiletries) for men, women and children and ‘baby shower’ items for newborns and new parents.

Wednesday, August 16 – Food For Thought 10 am to 3 pm

Farmer’s Market, Healthy Plates, sampling and recipes. Ask a Nutritionist! Adult and pre-natal healthy eating tips.

Thursday, August 17 – Healthy Back to School 8 am – 2 pm

8 am – 10 am Healthy start breakfast

10 am – 12:30 pm Pediatric Dental Screening

11:30 am – 2 pm Healthy lunch and snack tips for parents

8 am – 2 pm Pediatric Vision Screening, Pediatric Dental Screening, and Adult Blood Pressure Check, Ask a Dietician.

Friday, August 18 – Health Fun & Games 5:30 pm – 7 pm

Volleyball Challenge at Calf Pasture Beach – cheer on your favorite or join in and play on one of these teams for bragging rights as NCHC Health Week Volleyball Champion for 2017: CT’s Legislative Delegation; Fairfield County Media; Norwalk Hospital Residents; Norwalk Community Health Center providers and associates.

Saturday, August 19 – Family Fun Fair/Taste of Health 11 am – 3 pm Rain or Shine indoor/outdoor

Food sampling from area restaurants and caterers, DJ, Zumbathon, Entertainment, Stay Active Kids Station, Bounce House, Touch a Truck. Children’s Health-themed art contest prizes awarded. Quiet corner: mental health and de-stressing awareness activities such as: Yoga, Meditation and Massage.
