Women in Islam: Explorative Discussion at New Canaan Library

New Canaan Library is pleased to welcome back Aida Mansoor, presenting the talk "Women In Islam." The event takes place on Tuesday, March 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the Adrian Lamb Room. Please register online at newcanaanlibrary.org.

Aida will discuss the role of Muslim women within the faith and address some of the stereotypes surrounding women in Islam. Her insightful talk highlights women mentioned in the tradition, as well as some contemporary Muslim women and how women are addressed in the Qur’an.

Aida Mansoor has been giving presentations about Islam since 1999. She is committed to building bridges of understanding between people of all faiths, and was President of the Muslim Coalition of Connecticut, a non-profit dedicated to this purpose. She is a board member of the Connecticut Council for Inter-religious Understanding and was awarded the Human Relations Award from the National Conference for Community and Justice in 2011. Aida is a graduate of King's College, University of London, and holds a Masters Degree in Community Health in addition to a Masters Degree in Christian-Muslim Relations from the Hartford Seminary (2016).
