The Yale Science Diplomats at New Canaan Library "From Molecules to Minds: How We Study Disease"

Certain neurological diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Huntington's and Schizophrenia, can have a devastating effect on the lives of those affected and their families. New Canaan Library welcomes back the Yale Science Diplomats, who will discuss these types of diseases in their presentation "From Molecules to Minds." The event takes place on Thursday, May 24 at 6:30 p.m. in the Adrian Lamb Room. Please register online at newcanaanlibrary.org.

.
The Yale Science Diplomats will present an overview on the many ways in which scientists are studying these diseases. From exploring the molecules that define our genetics and using model organisms like mice and yeast, to creating computer simulations that model parts of the brain, the Diplomats will outline several ways that scientists are researching the causes of these diseases and working towards finding cures.

Yale Science Diplomats are a group of graduate students and postdoctoral individuals passionate about science communication, education, and advocacy. YSD began in 2007, when a group of graduate students founded a "Scientists and Engineers of America" (SEA) chapter at Yale, that has since become the Yale Science Diplomats.
