WASTED comes to New Canaan on June 7

Planet New Canaan invites you to join us for an easy way to dig in and do good on Thursday, June 7th from 6-8pm at the New Canaan Nature Center. Come for a screening of Wasted!

The Story of Food Waste, the award-winning documentary that deliciously tackles one of the most shocking and significant problems of our time: food waste. Prior to the screening, the New Canaan Food Pantry will be on hand to collect donations of non-perishable food items, and community partners from Food Rescue, Curbside Compost, and Person to Person will share simple ways we can participate in food recovery to help our neighbors and the environment.

One-third of all food grown in the world is wasted before it reaches our plates. That’s a very big deal, since 80% of the world’s water, 40% of the world’s land, and 10% of the world’s energy goes toward cultivating the food we eat. In Wasted! such famous chefs as Anthony Bourdain, Dan Barber, Mario Batali, Danny Bowien, and Massimo Bottura show how small changes can turn “scraps” into mouth-watering solutions to this global crisis.

This event is free and open to the public, but registration is recommended. To register please email PlanetNewCanaan@gmail.com. Doors open at 6:00pm; screening begins at 6:30pm. Light refreshments will be served.
