Photographer and Author Emery Roth Presents Book at New Canaan Library - Brass Valley: The Fall of an American Industry

The steep valley of Connecticut’s Naugatuck River has been called the "Brass Valley,” due to its long history of being the region where most of the world’s brass manufacturing occurred. New Canaan Library is pleased to photographer Emory Roth, whose book Brass Valley: The Fall of an American Industry beautifully illustrates the many dimensions, past and present, of this unique place. The event takes place on Wednesday, August 1 at 6:30 p.m. in the Adrian Lamb Room. Please register online at newcanaanlibrary.org.

From the time the world began running on steam and bearings, trolleys and soot, the Naugatuck Valley became the place where most of the world’s brass manufacturing occurred. Brass Valley: The Fall of an American Industry, tells with captivating photographs and stories how it all happened. In his presentation, Roth will show vivid photographs of Brass Valley from the book as well as others taken more recently, and share experiences and discoveries made while photographing the area.
