Silvermine Arts Center is celebrating the holiday season with two weekends of holiday sales

Silvermine Arts Center is celebrating the holiday season this year with two weekends of holiday sales. The first, opening the day after Thanksgiving and running Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (Nov. 23-25) is a Holiday Trunk Show featuring fifteen artists and craftspeople with unique handmade items. The School of Art Annual Holiday Sale, showcasing work by Silvermine’s faculty and students, will follow on the weekend of December 1st and 2nd. Both sales will offer beautiful and practical gifts not to be found anywhere else.

The Holiday Trunk Show, Nov. 23 to 25, is a one-of-a-kind shopping opportunity, featuring accessories for holiday and home, including handmade and hand-crafted jewelry, hand-painted pottery and ceramics, hand-painted scarves, hand-painted wine glasses, hand-pieced wood creations and more. The Trunk Show will open on Friday, November 23rd and will continue on Saturday and Sunday, November 24th and 25th from 11am to 4pm at the Gallery at Silvermine, 1037 Silvermine Road in New Canaan.

The unique crafts and works of art offered in the Holiday Trunk Show this year include outstanding and original jewelry creations by Mindy Ackerman, Arik Bensimon, Sarah Healy, Studio Minerale, Lynne Mercein, Rachel Morris, and Mic Urban; handmade and hand-painted ceramic art including vases, teapots, mugs, bowls, plates, platters, and décor from Jeanne Besssett, Janis Cutler Gear, Nash Hyon, Jon Puzzuoli, and Matthew Yanchuk; etched glasses from Anne Marie Papineau; textiles and scarves from Leslie Giuliani and Bob Lanaghan; and hand-crafted wood bowls, boards and more from Richard Uva.

On the following weekend, Dec. 1st and 2nd, the Annual School of Art Holiday Sale will feature jewelry, ceramics, cards, textiles and more—all by Silvermine faculty members and students. The sale is known for its abundance of unique and beautifully crafted pieces and for its very attractive prices. Sara Victoria Hall will be filled with treasures on Saturday, December 1st from 10 am to 4 pm and Sunday, December 2nd from 1 pm to 4 pm. As is the tradition at Silvermine, a portion of the proceeds will go to the Children’s Scholarship Fund at the School of Art.

The Gallery Store will also be expanded with additional handmade items and original art for all your unique and special holiday gift-giving. It will be open from November 23rd through December 23rd. The public is warmly invited to join in the fun at Silvermine after Thanksgiving and through the month of December.
