New Canaan Library Presents Reducing and Recycling During the Pandemic

How is COVID-19 disrupting U.S. waste and recycling? During ‘normal’ times recycling can be confusing, but during a pandemic it gets even more complicated and perhaps downright discouraging.

Evolving health and safety guidelines, heavy increases in household waste, and new questions about whether PPE can be recycled are just a few examples of what is fueling the confusion. Locally, New Canaan recently contracted a new waste management company, Oak Ridge Waste and Recycling, further impacting our recycling routine.

These topics and more will be part of a live webinar discussion on Monday, June 29 at 4:30 PM, as Tiger Mann, Director of New Canaan Public Works, Jennifer Heaton-Jones of the Housatonic Resources Recovery Authority, and Mark O’Brien from Oak Ridge, give us the information to get recycling right. There will be time for Q&A at the end. Register at newcanaanlibrary.org to receive Zoom information.
