The state Department of Public Health has approved our New Canaan Health Department in partnership with our New Canaan Public Schools to host a Pfizer vaccination clinic next Wednesday, April 28th at New Canaan High School for students aged 16 and over. There will be 1170 appointments available and due to the increased volume we are going to host the clinic at the high school gymnasium.
The Pfizer vaccine is a two dose vaccine and you will receive 2nd dose appointments at your 1st dose appointment. Those who attend on April 28th are guaranteed the 2nd dose of Pfizer and the appointment date for 2nd dose is Wednesday, May 19th at NCHS. Students must remember to bring their white vaccination cards to their 2nd dose appointments.
The Sign Up Genius registration link will be sent out via the New Canaan Superintendent of schools and St. Luke’s school to their students with the required VAMS forms & a parental consent form. All forms are required to be brought to their vaccination appointment.
There is still a pause on Janssen (J&J) and a decision by the various governing bodies is expected soon. We will provide further updates in the Monday night First Selectman’s outcall message on the status of J&J and our supply in New Canaan for a future clinic.
Finally, we remind everyone that we should all continue to maintain social distancing, wear masks when required, wash hands frequently, and minimize the number of close contacts in order to help control the spread of COVID 19 in our community.
