Ode To Color Exhibit Open Through May 15 at the Carriage Barn Arts Center

The Spectrum contemporary art exhibit "Ode To Color" just opened at the Carriage Barn Arts Center and runs through Saturday, May 15.  This annual exhibit was juried by Lori Weitzner, an internationally renowned textile designer, and features 120 original artworks selected from over 700 entries by artists working in all media.  The exhibit was inspired by Weitzner's book Ode To Color, and her ten essential palettes for living and design.

Artwork in the gallery is organized around ten color worlds: Waterside, Garden Party, Silverlight, At Ease, Out Loud, Earthly, Whisper, Night Shadows, Alchemy and Fragrant Woods.   Visitors are invited to explore and experience the connections between art, color, culture and design; discover how color effects mood and memory and identify the artwork and colors that will most inspire, energize and enhance their lives and surroundings.  The exhibit is complimented by the Carriage Barn YARNBOMB, a colorful fiber art installation adorning trees, signposts and walls around the building and courtyard.

Opening weekend on April 17 & 18 featured a preview and booksigning with the exhibit juror and an open house event with a live music performance by Bad Dog Buddy Band and refresments from the Litchfield Distillery.  The exhibits is presented with support from sponsors Ring's End and William Pitt Sotheby's International Realty.  Gallery hours are Wednesday-Saturday from 10am-3pm and Sundays 1-5pm.  A virtual gallery can also be viewed at carriagebarn.org.
