New Canaan Family Fourth Celebration on Saturday, Parking Passes Necessary

2022 Family Fourth Celebration will be held Saturday, July 2, 2022

Raindates- Sunday, July 3; Saturday, July 9

The 41st Annual Family Fourth of July Celebration will begin at 5:00 pm on Saturday, July 2, 2022.  All vehicles must enter through the South Avenue entrance to Waveny Park.

The Lapham Road entrance will be closed to all traffic.  Entry passes must be displayed on the drivers side dashboard and visible through the window. Pedestrian walkers with passes should enter the park from the high school parking area.

Activities will include family picnicking and several gourmet food trucks.  Children's games and bounce-houses will provide fun from 5:00-7:30 pm.  Live music will include “Mind the Gap” from 5:30-7:15 pm, and the Town Band from 7:30-9:15 pm. A spectacular fireworks display is scheduled to start soon thereafter. 

2022 Entrance Passes- $35 per car (New Canaan Residents Only) Non-resident passes will not be sold this year. 

Three ways to purchase your pass:

Online- (June 23rd deadline)  Click Here to access online sales The Town website www.newcanaan.info will allow New Canaan Residents to on-line purchase 2022 entrance passes beginning June 1 through June 23, 2022.  All on-line purchases will result in 2022 passes mailed directly to your address.  On-line sales will end June 23rd so the committee has time to mail them to you. 

In-Person

Here is a list of in-person locations selling New Canaan Resident entrance passes:

Parks & Recreation Department in Waveny House at 677 South Ave (thru July 1)
Town Clerk in Town Hall at 77 Main Street (thru July 1)
Walter Stewart’s Market at 229 Elm Street (thru July 1)
Waveny Swimming Pool, Waveny Park - Saturday, July 2 only, 11:00 am – 4:00 pm

Proof of residency will be required in order to purchase in-person.  Make checks payable to Town of New Canaan- Family Fourth.

Rain dates have been set for July 3, 2022 and July 9, 2022.

No dogs, drones, grills, candles, personal fireworks or sparklers


*2021 Passes- all 2021 passes purchased last year will be honored this year and must be displayed at the gate for event entry.  All questions about 2021 and 2022 passes and the Family Fourth of July should be directed toward the Recreation Department 203-594-3600
