Gates Restaurant kicked off 2023 in style by hosting their fourth annual ‘Battle of the (cover) Bands’ once again raising money for Meals on Wheels. This popular event is hosted by radio presenter Jon Kamal, generously sponsored by Karl Chevrolet, and produced by Rock Paper Scissors Custom Events.
The four winners of each heat will play against each other for the ticketed final on Saturday, February 4th, 2023, from 8pm. Order of play will be decided by picking names from a hat. Each playing a 20-minute set, only two will be put through. They then play the SAME song – Don’t You Forget About Me by Simple Minds. This is not based on crowd cheers but special guest judges decide on the winning band, they include renowned author James Frey, musician and music video writer Andrew Ault and Brian Fox, School of Rock, New Canaan. It's like watching America's Got Talent - on steroids.

In March 2022 Jay Luther, Owner Gates Restaurant presented a $4k check to Martha Lane from Meals on Wheels, raised at the 2022 battle. Tickets for the final are $20 per person and will be available to purchase on Gates website or by scanning the QR code below and pressing pick up. Proceeds will once again be presented to Meals on Wheels, New Canaan.
